Description

Press release from Kendall County Sheriff's Office: In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and those who continue to serve and protect our communities. Sheriff Dwight Baird said, "I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the men and women of the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and law enforcement officers all across the country. We must honor all the men and women who have taken on the responsibility to serve our communities and to put the safety of others before their own. It is also vital to honor and pay tribute to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our communities. We must never forget their sacrifice and we must continue to honor their service." Residents can show their support of local law enforcement by displaying blue lights and/or blue ribbons outside their homes during National Police Week.
