PRINCETON, NJ — The goods are very good, and Jersey is known for its produce, but you've got to show up to gather them at your local farmer's market around Princeton. Local farmers markets, both outdoor and indoor, just keep growing in popularity. There is so much to draw us out. Local businesses can make a showing and it's a chance to sample something. Artists and artisans may be displaying their work, and there's often music. Here are a few farmers markets around Montclair where you can shop for what's fresh and local. Princeton Farmers Market opens for the season on May 26, and each Saturday through Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Dinky Train Station parking lot. Princeton Farmers Market is a nonprofit. Check out its summer vendor list here. Pennsylvania Dutch Farmers Market brings a little of Amish country over the Princeton, at the Kingston Mall Shopping Center on Route 27. Baked goods, meats, deli products, and fresh produce are among the market's choices — and don't forget those jams and jellies. There's even a wine vendor and a builder who does custom sheds and furniture. Hours are Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. West Windsor Community Farmers Market is a year-round artisan-music-food-beverage-and -more market open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Princeton Junction Train Station's Lower Vaughn Lot. The list of vendors is long and varied for the nonprofit market that's been around since 2004. Stable Roots Farm sells its own honey, eggs, and other farm products at 943 Canal Road, Princeton. The eggs are collected fresh every day! Beech Tree Farm is worth the little drive to Hopewell, especially if you're looking for grass-fed beef. You'll also find pork, lamb, poultry, and soaps for sale. Beech Tree Farm's website says they're open every day, but "just call ahead to make sure we are home." Call 609-466-0277 or 609-468-4145 before heading out to 105 Crusher Road. For local news, follow the Princeton Patch Facebook Page. To get your local news by email: Subscribe to Patch.
