COLLINGSWOOD, NJ and MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Perkins Center for the Arts announced that is looking for individuals and businesses to help fill the coffers of its Camp Hero Scholarship Fund.
The center, which has locations in Moorestown and Collingswood, brings the arts to residents of Camden, Burlington and Gloucester Counties of all ages via events such as discussions on culture for older adults and senior citizens; arts exploration days for pre-schoolers and their caregivers; and residency programs for students, teachers, parents and school administrators.
While many of these events are free to the public, the summer camps are not, center staff said.
Therefore, the Camp Hero Scholarship Fund provide scholarships for the center's two summer camps, the center's staff staff. The center hopes to raise $16,000 for the fund, which would support about 20 scholarships, the center's staff continued.
The first camp, intended for 5- to 8-year-olds, focuses on performing arts, STEAM learning, creative play, and artistic expression. The second camp, for 11- to 14-year-olds, which focuses on expanding the knowledge of those already interested in multimedia, collaboration and creation, according to the center.
