LTHS business students compete on national stage

Congratulations are in order for six members of the Lyons Township High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) who recently competed in a variety of categories at the annual National BPA Leadership Conference. The BPA national competitions were held in Dallas, Texas. LT placed in the top 10 in four categories: Sophomore Owen Cutler, of LaGrange, placed 7th out of 56 in the 305 Device Configure and Troubleshooting - IT Specialist Device Configuration and Management category The 325 Network Design Team of juniors Patrick Furey, of Western Springs, Savvy Miller, of Indian Head Park, and Lucas Pender, of Western Springs, earned 7th place out of 13 teams. Junior Patrick Fury placed 8th out of 44 in the 300 Computer Network Technology - IT Specialist Networking Junior Lucas Pender placed 8th out of 56 in 305 Device Configure and Troubleshooting - IT Specialist Device Configuration and Management BPA sponsor Krista Wilcox says, "Thanks to all of the Business Education and Economics teachers for recruiting, supporting and helping these students prepare. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work to advance to nationals and we are very proud of their showing." Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office administration. The organization's activities and program complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.
