CONCORD, NH — A woman from Alton has been cited for following too closely after being accused of crashing into a New Hampshire State Police cruiser on Interstate 93 on Monday. Just before 7:30 a.m., the cruiser, which was parked in the median on a crossover road just south of Exit 16, was struck by Julie Petelle, 23, of Alton, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, according to a report. At the time, the trooper was monitoring traffic and the cruiser was parked perpendicular to the roadway facing west. Petelle, the report said, lost control of her vehicle, drove across two lanes of the Interstate, and crashed into the cruiser. "Petelle stated she was driving in the right lane when the vehicle in front of her braked abruptly causing her to suddenly brake, which resulted in her losing control of her vehicle," Amber Lagace, the department's spokesperson, said. "She admitted to driving too close to the vehicle in front of her." Petelle was cited. Neither she nor the trooper was injured due to the collision.
