ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst has received state money to pay for restoring the First Street bridge over Robert Palmer Drive this summer, the city announced Monday.
The bridge was built in the 1970s and now needs a bridge deck overlay to prevent increased damage, according to a city news release.
The project is set to include the deck overlay, parapet wall repairs, beam and bearing repainting, and sidewalk repairs.
The project is slated to last from June 6 to Aug. 5.
During construction, the bridge will be closed to traffic, the news release said. The city plans to set up a detour route.
