Historic Phillips Park Waterfall Turned On For First Time In 2 Years

AURORA, IL — Aurora's historic Phillips Park waterfall has been turned on for the first time in two years, and just in time for warmer, summer-like days. The waterfall was under repairs last summer, but now that a new water pump has been added, the destination is once again active, according to Chief Communications Officer Clayton Muhammad. Phillips Park staff, part of city's Public Works Department, did the honor of "flipping the switch." During the day, the waterfall serves as a backdrop for visitors' photos. At night, the waterfall is backlit to reflect various holidays and special occasions. Currently, the waterfall shines blue in honor of National Police Week — from May 15 to May 21. A bustling location in Aurora, Phillips Park is also home to a sunken garden, a golf course and Phillips Park Zoo. When visitors stop by to see the once-again-functioning waterfall, they also have the option to stop by one of the nearby spots and make a day of it.
