Redtail is an established and well-known general contractor with a focus on earthwork and underground utilities. Our work portfolio consists of a mix of public works projects contracted with local cities and counties and private work with our developer and builder clients. Redtail has a staff of around 50 people and an ever-growing fleet of heavy equipment. Our large volume of contracted work has us positioned for steady growth and expansion. REPORTS TO: PRESIDENT, Redtail, LLC OBJECTIVE: Under the direction of the President, the Civil Construction General Manager will work as a committed team player to ensure the profitability of the company and a reputation as a premier construction company. He/she will support the company by establishing regular goals that support company goals and contribute to the development of success within the Company. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Civil Construction General Manager is responsible for the overall management of field construction operations of the Company. He/she will assist in all aspects of the construction process to ensure adherence to schedules, revenue forecasts, cost estimates and customer satisfaction. He/she will exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to the primary functions and other matters of significance to Company business within this position. He/she must possess a “committed team” approach to the professional activities and responsibilities encountered in the daily functions of this position as set forth below: 1. CONSTRUCTION • Read and interpret plans and specifications. • Design and establish check lists for inspections, quality control, and standard operating policies and procedures. • Deliver construction projects in compliance with approved construction plans and within budget. • Communicate plans and directives to direct reports, subcontractors, employees, architects and others. • Evaluate alternate methods of construction using “value engineering” for cost efficiency and quality. • Perform quality control inspections and ensure compliant delivery of projects as contracted. • Ensuring scheduling of all phases through construction scheduler. • Maintain knowledge of the latest trends of the construction industry through study of literature, talking with material suppliers, involvement in the involvement in trade associations, or through workshops/seminars. • Plan, conduct and attend meetings with others related to the trade. • Work closely with the President to resolve any construction related issues as they arise. • Other duties as assigned. 2. GENERAL MANAGEMENT • Organize paperwork in compliance with office procedures pertaining to this position. • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and motivate Superintendents and Foreman. • Organize company work force and assign work to different crews. • Determine alternate work assignments during inclement weather. • Verify assigned staff time sheets and daily reports. • Develop a good working relationship, showing a firm, but fair attitude with all direct reports, subcontractors and suppliers. • Delegate duties as appropriate. • Other duties as assigned. 3. SCHEDULING & COMMUNICATION • Assure scheduling of all municipal inspections, cooperating with all City, County and State agents. • Communicate with office on projects, issues, and closeouts. • Give ample notice to subcontractors and material suppliers to assure materials and supplies are delivered on schedule. • Estimate materials and labor needed for the construction process in coordination with estimators and others. • Assure the processing of customer change orders. • Communicate with management on ways to cut construction costs • Process all paperwork related to this position, including reports and invoice verification, and authorize payments to subcontractors and material suppliers. 4. QUALITY CONTROL • Establish quality control standards and supervise their implementation. • Monitor subcontractors and field personnel to the highest possible load of production and quality. • Coordinate work progress with customers and keep them informed of such. • Maintain knowledge on the basic concepts and methods used by subcontractors 5. SAFETY • Enforce safety measures, policies and procedures. • Ensure the maintenance of clean, safe job sites on a daily basis. Minimum Requirements • 5 years’ experience in Civil Construction/Earthwork/Utilities/Construction or equivalent combination of education and experience. • 5 years’ experience in a management role overseeing a minimum of 20 people. • Experience in Microsoft Office applications. • Possess organization skills & attention to detail. • Possess skills in Public Relations. • Excellent communication skills. • Be a self-starter and goal oriented. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Possess the ability to innovatively solve problems. • Experience with preparing, managing & working within budgets and schedules. • Current Washington State Driver’s License • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job software preferred.
