There is a food truck currently looking for festival volunteers for this season. I just worked on the Shawndy's Comfort Kitchen truck at a music festival, and I was so disgusted by the comments and behavior of the chef and her husband that I left the festival and the truck early, willingly sacrificing my camping spot and cut of tips. In addition to making disparaging comments about homeless people, drug addicts, sex workers and women of color, the chef, a White presenting american woman, REPEATEDLY SANG "CHING CHING CHONG" IN HER VERSION OF AN ASIAN LADY VOICE. Ugh. She also serves Thai food and employs no Asian staff, or any staff of color as far as I know. Don't worry, their health practices were terrible, too. Within the first two days of the festival, the chef left multiple cooked food items out overnight, open and unrefrigerated. I'm sure that had nothing to do with the fact that they were the only truck there who was overrun by flies and nats so bad that many customers left without ordering. Run screaming, y'all. Fast and loud.
