Job Overview An independent corrosion testing laboratory in business since 1998 located in Stafford, Texas is seeking a Laboratory/Maintenance Technician. Our customers include most of the major oil and oil service companies. We are looking to hire a talented Lab Technician as well as an individual versed in general maintenance and repairs to keep up with ongoing laboratory and building maintenance. Responsibilities for Lab Technician/Maintenance Technician • Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments • Read, understand and follow written procedures for the tests. • Receive or collect, as well as process, samples • Calculate test results, and log and report results using a computer • Prepare and supervise corrosion tests by following written specific procedure for each test. • Perform quality control and calibrate equipment if necessary • Maintain equipment in proper working order and maintain a clean work area • Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations • Repair and/or replace equipment within the laboratory and perform routine maintenance of work area and lab buildings. Qualifications for Lab Technician/Maintenance Technician • Minimum of High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred • 1-2 years of experience working in a lab or mechanic shop or machine shop • Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs • Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios • Very strong attention to details and in following procedures • Ability to write correspondence and reports • Excellent organizational skills • Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, standing on a ladder etc. • Able to use assorted hand tools and hand power tools on a regular basis This job description reflects the general duties of the position, but is not a detailed description of all duties, which may be inherent to the position
