Strong vocals is the foremost concern. Knowing more than cowboy chords and strums would be great too. Covers of Townes, Merle, Waylon, Cash, and the like. Throw in some rock like the Allmans, Skynyrd, the Band, Tom Petty, etc. Round it out with new bloods like Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Uncle Tupelo, Lucero. Maybe some 90s neotraditional like Dwight, Vince, the Mavericks, Junior Brown, etc. thrown in. Can test out any of your originals every 6th song or so if you have them. No smoky bars for this project. Prospective players are in our early to mid 30s. So be old enough to have some experience but not looking for AARP members.
