Press release from the City of Des Moines: December 23, 2020 DES MOINES, IOWA – Wednesday, December 23, 2020 – The City will observe Christmas Eve on Thursday December 24th and Christmas on Friday December 25th, 2020.Due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVI-19) outbreak, Des Moines City Administration Buildings are currently closed to the public through at least February 1, 2021.Garbage, recycling and yard waste will still be collected on Christmas Eve, but Christmas Day pickup will be delayed by one day, so Friday collections will be delayed until Saturday, December 26, 2020.
