ISO: FOSTER HOME Aniu (pronounced “ah-new”) is my 13-month-old Norwegian elkhound. I have found myself in an unexpected situation and can’t bring her with me, so I am looking for a foster home for her. She IS NOT available for sale/permanent rehoming. I will be bringing her back into my care as soon as I am able. She is an extremely energetic and athletic dog with awesome intelligence to boot. She enjoys the company of other dogs and people but she does not get along with cats or other small critters. Loves car rides, hiking (she could easily go all day on the toughest trails with no problem), and being outdoors in general. She is crate trained, house broken, and UTD on all vet care including flea/tick/heart worm prevention. Aniu is currently intact with plans to spay at two years old. That being said she will not be allowed in a home with intact male dogs for my personal comfort and to further prevent accidental pregnancy. While not perfectly trained, overall Aniu is a good dog with no serious behavior problems. However, I can’t stress enough just how high energy she is. She isn’t a couch potato or even remotely close. Aniu needs a lot of exercise and stimulation every day. She is also a double coated dog that sheds A LOT. You’ll have to be prepared for sweeping/vacuuming along with brushing her out daily. She is on a regular grooming schedule but this won’t stop the shedding, only help control it. I love this dog with every last atom in my body. She will not go to just any foster. While I would like to place her before I relocate, it is not required, so I will be taking my time. Her foster will not be financially responsible for her in any way; I will provide all food, treats, toys, and supplies for the duration of her stay as well as pay for any/all veterinary care.
