IUPUI Diversity Speaker Series presents:Ijeoma Oluo at IUPUIWednesday, Sep. 7, 2022, at 6 p.m. Doors 5:00 p.m. Madam Walker Theatre Free and open to the public Ijeoma Oluo (ee-joh-mah oh-loo-oh) is a writer, speaker and internet yeller. Nigerian American raised by a white mother in the Pacific Northwest, Oluo infuses personal anecdotes with facts and figures in her #1 New York Times bestseller So You Want to Talk About Race. (The book is so good, we use it in our antiracist reading groups.) Her work on race has been featured in The Guardian, The New York Times and The Washington Post, among many other publications. She was named to the 2021 TIME Magazine 100 Next list and has twice been named to The Root 100. Oluo also received the 2018 Feminist Humanist Award and the 2020 Harvard Humanist of the Year Award from the American Humanist Association. Join us in person Wednesday, Sep 7, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Madam Walker Theatre. It shouldn't cause too many headaches, just know that the street is now down to one lane each way and we may have to redirect foot traffic if the sidewalk is currently under construction. Free parking available in the lots west of the Walker Theater, marked in the map below as lots A - D. Accessible parking available in lot A. Lot 92 is available for overflow parking. Enter the building using the main marquee doors surrounding the bygone ticket booth. We will be in the main theatre space with the stage. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION Masks are currently not required. Wear one if you like, but know other people sitting near you may not be masked. And of course, the no-mask policy is subject to the whims of COVID-19 and could change at anytime. Arrive early. Your BFF's coat can only save so many seats. Limited general-admission seating available. First come first served. No reserve seating. If you have a disability, no worries — we got you.
