Description

The Great LA River CleanUp returns Summer 2022 - join us! About the SiteThe River needs YOU! This summer, join FoLAR in the Glendale Narrows to collect trash and prevent waste from polluting our watershed and urban waterways. Together, we’ll make a collective impact and do our part to tend to the vibrant urban ecosystems that thrive throughout Los Angeles. Elysian Valley Gateway Park is located along the scenic Glendale Narrows, the central and longest natural area of the LA River. The River has an earthen bottom here, with tall trees, sandbar islands, and lots of birds, including ducks, stilts, egrets, and herons. CleanUp supplies (work gloves and trash bags), hand sanitizer, and a water station are provided. What to Wear & BringThere are areas of this site where you may need to wade into the water in order to access the island that we’ll be cleaning, so wear sturdy, close-toed shoes you don’t mind getting wet, or boots or water shoes if you have them. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen and a hat. We’re providing cleanup supplies, so all you need to bring is a reusable water bottle - we’ll have ice water available onsite. ParkingParking in the Elysian Valley is extremely limited, so help FoLAR be good neighbors to Elysian Valley residents and consider carpooling, ridesharing, or biking to the event.
