PACOIMA, CA — An outside rubbish fire in Pacoima extended into a church building Sunday and was threatening an apartment building, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The San Fernando Fire was reported shortly after noon Sunday in the 10200 block of North San Fernando Road.
By 12:30 p.m., there were 71 LAFD firefighters assigned to the active structure fire that was categorized as a "greater alarm incident," according to Brian Humphrey of the LAFD.
"Flames from the large outside rubbish fire extended into and now heavily involves the rear/attic area of the nearby one-story (unoccupied) church, and continue to threaten a now evacuated nearby two-story apartment building," Humphrey reported.
"No injuries have been reported as the firefight continues."
