Good old boy needs a retirement home

Description

We’re looking for a new home for one of our German Short Haired Pointer’s, Gunner. We have two and they’re a high energy breed which ramp each other up and cause them to knock over our toddlers so we need to break up the band unfortunately. Either one does fine on their own with the kids, but holy hell do they like their wrestling sessions with each other and that’s when the chaos ensues. We’ve struggled to find a home for the pair so we’re trying this route instead. Gunner is about 11 years old and while he doesn’t have a lot of years left, he’s just such a lover that we’d like to try to find him a new home as the dogs spend the majority of their time in kennels at the moment to keep em from taking out the kids. The cons: - Gunner has a big voice and isn’t afraid to use it at times, but certainly not all the time - He will likely have some separation anxiety if left alone and will probably bark if left in his kennel (this doesn’t seem to be as much of a problem if you let him lay on his dog bed instead off in the kennel) - If he’s paired with another high energy dog it will probably mean you shouldn’t have little kids around - He has some lumps that the vet has said are fatty tumors and aren’t too big of a concern unless they limit his mobility - He has food allergies and needs a little higher quality grain free food as opposed to the cheap stuff The pros: - He’s a real lover - He thinks he’s a lapdog even at a boney 55 lbs and will just be so happy if he can crawl in your lap down on the floor - MOST of the day he’s just happy as a clam curled up on a dog bed near his person (if Gunner wasn’t paired with a high energy bud I suspect he’d mostly act like an old man) In an ideal world, he’d probably make a great companion for a retiree that would be home a fair amount and would love a sweet dog that likes nothing more than to curl up next to the fire and get pets. Let me know if you might be interested in this old boy. Thanks
