Description

A cozy space for buds to roll some dice Please join us for our first of (hopefully) many monthly game nights at Porter Books and Bread in Lawrence! Our goal is to create a welcoming space offering food, drink, and conviviality for newcomer and veteran gamers alike. We hope to invite and encourage a range of tabletop, card, and board game experiences-- from icebreaking party classics to meaty dungeon encounters. We will be running the kitchen and bar from 6-10, though if your group needs a little extra time to wrap up, we can be flexible with closing up a bit later. -$5 table and facility fee requested to cover access to a small game library as well as a community pool of basic materials to get you and your adventurers on your way. Forgot your dice, pencil, or battle mat? No problem! We've got extras. Wanna try a cool, niche, indie RPG rulebook? Got those too. - We will offer an abbreviated version of our lunch sandwich menu as well as a few specials. Popcorn included in the price of admission! - full coffee + espresso menu, crispy and craft beer, curated cocktails, and NA offerings - Please wear a mask if you are not vaccinated or feel more comfortable by doing so. Stay home if you are feeling unwell. -If you make use of the game library, please take care of the components and return everything when done. :) Fielding a few possible questions: Can my static TTRPG group play here? Nothing would get us more stoked. Do I have to play games to attend? That's the general idea, but if you just wanna eat, drink, and listen to citypop with Kat that's cool too. She might try to rope you into a round of Machi Koro if it's a slow night. Should I bring my own game? BYO game/group is encouraged. We do not want to pressure anyone to have to mingle with others to join a game if they do not want to. That being said, if you're feeling social and wanna make some new friends, do your thing! Be mindful and respectful of boundaries. Bring your favorite game to teach others. Be good to each other. Vegan options? Yep!
