Klairmont Kollections has partnered with the Made in Chicago Museum to celebrate our Chicago heritage by sharing historical local relics. Klairmont Kollections welcomes guests to the official launch of its newest exhibit and collaboration with the Made In Chicago Museum. Join us for some locally sourced food, drink and music, as Klairmont Kollections–one of the country’s largest classic automobile museums–introduces a unique new exhibit focused on Chicago’s diverse manufacturing history. The exhibit is on loan from the Made In Chicago Museum (est. 2015), an independent research project dedicated to finding, documenting, and celebrating the “everyday objects” produced during Chicago’s 20th century industrial heyday. This private collection, curated by writer and researcher Andrew Clayman, includes over 400 antiques and vintage wares, ranging from candy tins and toy trains to telephones, tools, trumpets, and typewriters . . . all of which were “Made in Chicago” between 1900 and 1970 Along with the exclusive company histories and interactive “lost factory” map provided free to the public at MadeInChicagoMuseum.com, this collaboration with Klairmont Kollections now gives visitors an opportunity to see the full Made In Chicago collection in one space, with new signage and multimedia elements created by exhibit director Martin Mulcahy.
