As they wrote together, the songs evolved into something deeply personal and optimistically honest, and culminated in an EP titled Suburban Legend. After a successful Kickstarter to record the songs, Durry independently rolled out each tune throughout 2021. Formed in 2021 by brothers John and Nick Fisher, alongside their long-time creative partner Charlie Patterson, Mr. Softheart’s sound fits most closely within a post-punk ethos — albeit one that favors minimalism and intimacy over more conventional iterations of the genre. This new project arrives on the heels of the trio’s previous group, Hex Girls, a 5-piece glam punk staple of Iowa’s most notable festivals, appearing at Hinterland Music Festival in 2021, 80/35 in 2018 and 2019, and Max Ames in 2019. Mr. Softheart is currently in the studio recording with Capel Howorth (Penny Peach, Anthony Worden & The Illiterati). The band will debut new music in late spring 2022, with tour dates to follow.
