Press release from the Town of Oyster Bay: May 13, 2022 Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino, Councilwoman Vicki Walsh and Receiver of Taxes Jeff Pravato joined with police officials to encourage residents to support the 'Back the Blue' ribbon campaign in recognition of Police Appreciation Week, a national recognition celebration in honor of men and women in blue. National Police Week, which runs in mid-May, honors law enforcement officers who service to protect the safety of our communities, as well as those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Supervisor and Town officials were joined by representatives from the Nassau County PBA, including President Tommy Shevlin, Corresponding Secretary John Paterson and Sergeant at Arms Frank Arcuri; from the Superior Officers Association, 1st Vice President Edward Junior Perkins and Treasurer Thomas Iervese; and from the Detectives Association Vice President Chris Muchow. "The Town's Blue Ribbon campaign encourages residents to show their support for men and women in blue by decorating their homes, businesses, storefronts or trees with blue ribbon," said Supervisor Saladino. "This important message shows members of our police force that we are here for them, we thank them, and we appreciate them." "It's thanks to the men and women in blue that we enjoy the quality of life that we do. When you dial 911, they leave their homes and their families to protect ours," added Councilwoman Walsh. Any residents who would like to receive a complimentary strand of blue ribbon from the Town of Oyster Bay can contact the Town through its website, www.OysterBayTown.com, via Facebook messenger, or by calling (516) 624-6380.
