Here are the top stories today in Denver: Property tax cut bill sent to Governor for signature. The Colorado Legislature approved the plan to temporarily cut property taxes, voting unanimously to send the bill to the governor. (CO Newsline) Metro area hospitals facing nurse staffing crisis. This might be the most significant nursing shortage in decades, and could ultimately impact patient care. (FOX31)New Colorado COVID-19 cases have almost tripled. Just when you thought it was over, cases and hospitalizations related to the COVID-19 virus have gone up significantly over the the past month, and the number of fresh outbreaks of the disease identified by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment have nearly tripled in the past three weeks. (Westword)State lawmakers have plan to refill water aquifers. The plan sets $60 million aside to retire irrigation wells that have been used to irrigate farmland. The federal COVID relief money will fund the program in two river basins, in hopes of meeting groundwater sustainability targets.
