Description
We purchased this in the Old City of Jerusalem over 40 years ago. This is authentic hand-loomed wool. It is traditional Bedouin colors: burgundy, white, black and orange. The far right and far left designs are somewhat different. This is characteristic of an authentic bedouin rug, which is often a reflection of different families joining together. The rug binding is pulled away from the weaving in one spot: this is deliberate a statement by the weaver that only Allah is perfect.
This is no tourist souvenir. Its uneven manufacture is the proof of a local product by a nomadic people.
