NEW BOSTON, NH — State investigators were in New Boston on Saturday investigating an officer-involved shooting at the U.S. Space Force station.
Limited information is available but officials said one man is dead. No officers were physically injured during the incident which happened overnight, Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, said. He added that there appeared to be no threat to the public.
The station is a former U.S. Air Force satellite tracking station that was given to Space Force to use in 2020. It is the home of the 23d Space Operations Squadron. In the 1940s, it was used as a practice area for bombers and fighter jets from the Grenier Army Air Field, which is now the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, according to the U.S. Space Force website.
