NAPERVILLE, IL — After making its debut last year, the Naperville Salute event will again honor local veterans and military events in July, but the celebration will add a fourth day after the Park District Board approved an amendment to allow the popular community event to be extended. Commissioners approved the measure at their meeting on Thursday, which allows Naperville Responds For Veterans to hold the event, which will be held from July 1-July 4, officials announced on Friday. The amendment extends the event and specifies that this year's event will include a fireworks display on July 3 at the Frontier Sports Complex with the Park District coordinating the logistics of the show, city officials said. Naperville Responds For Veterans will continue to organize and manage the logistics for the rest of the Naperville Salute event, which will again take place at Rotary Hill. The event is being hailed as a family-friendly Independence Day community celebration that honors veterans and local military members. The event, which not only is meant to honor local military members is also being held to unify the community, organizers said, and to celebrate the values that matter most around Naperville. The four-day event will feature events and entertainment, including a July 2 performance by rising country music performer Jon Langston.
