LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Vote by Mail ballots are slated to arrive in Laguna Beach by the end of this week. Vote by Mail Ballots were mailed last week to all registered voters for the June 2022 Primary Election, the Orange County Registrar announced Monday. Voters can track their ballot every step of the way with Where's My Ballot? It's a free subscription that sends automatic notifications by text, email, or voicemail on the status of the ballot. There are multiple easy return options available: Return by mail, no postage required.Use one of 400 Ballot Drop Box locations across Orange County.Drop off at any Vote Center beginning May 28. This election has a long ballot with many contests and candidates. Voters should review the instructions carefully and remember to sign and date the Return Envelope before submitting their ballot. In Laguna Beach, your closest Ballot Drop Box is located at the Laguna Beach Branch Library, 363 Glenneyre St. All Ballot Drop Box locations are walk-up, the county said. In Laguna Beach, statewide seats aren't the only ones residents will be voting on. The competition to see who will become Orange County's 5th District Supervisor is heating up, after district lines were redrawn last year as a part of the state's redistricting process. Current 5th District Supervisor Lisa Bartlett is termed out. Four experienced candidates are up for the 5th District seat, which includes Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Newport Beach, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and several unincorporated communities in between, as well as the southern portion of Irvine. All four candidates have held office before and have a wealth of state and local elected experience between them. Laguna Beach residents will vote between state Senator Pat Bates; former Assemblywoman Diane Harkey; current District 2 Supervisor Katrina Foley; and Newport Beach Mayor Kevin Muldoon, according to the OC Register. This ballot contains two concurrent elections for the U.S. Senate seat. One for the remainder of Kamala Harris' term that runs through January 3, 2023, and the second for the full 6-year term from January 3, 2023–2029. Voters can vote for both contests.
