NORTH SEA, NY — Fuel was leaking Friday from a vessel that sank behind a home in North Sea, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, bay constables and the marine patrol are investigating what happened to the 37.5-foot recreational vessel; no injuries were reported and the owner was at the scene on Shore Road, police said.
However, fuel was leaking from the vessel and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's spill response unit, the United State's Coast Guard's spill response, and others were there to assess and contain the spill, police said.
The Southampton Town fire marshal and spill response team were also helping, police said.
The circumstances surrounding the sinking are still being investigated, police said.
