Tuscaloosa Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor told local media Friday night that around 6:53 p.m., officers on patrol near Creekwood Village attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by two men.
The driver reportedly refused to stop and instead led the officers on a pursuit that went down Joe Mallisham Parkway, Interstate 20/59, Skyland Boulevard and "surrounding smaller roads."
Officers then used spike strips to bring the vehicle to a stop, which resulted in both men exiting the vehicle in front of the bank parking lot and attempting to flee on foot.
"One suspect was taken into custody immediately, the other ran a short distance and was apprehended," Taylor said. "Several officers were involved in the pursuit, assisted by the TPD helicopter and TCSO Sheriff's deputies. Marijuana packaged for sale was recovered from the car."
Formal charges against the suspects have not been announced at this time.
