Cello wanted for collaboration

Description

I play mandolin and have over 30 years as a singer/songwriter, guitarist, bassist, etc. in folk, jazz and Americana genres. I am not in a position to pay; this is art for the sake of art, and hopefully on a high level. If I could find a cello player with work with, I think it would be cool to add hand percussion, perhaps someone with a Cuban or broader Latin background. Doing music that swings with that instrumentation would be really interesting, but would require a high degree of proficiency to pull off well in a trio. Improv skills a must. I'm a strong and experienced songwriter/producer/arranger... although I am not interesting in dictating parts since the best part about playing is the freedom. I'm very open to playing with someone and figuring out a project that finds common ground and satisfies all parties' creativity. I've got 33 years on guitar and bass and picked up the mandolin during the pandemic; it was like getting hit with lightening. I've been growing by leaps and bound on mandolin and it has rapidly become my main focus. It's been really exciting and revelatory. Funny that at this point in my life that's happened, but go figure. Anyway, it seems to be an instrument that is breaking out of the genre boundaries which it has been pigeonholed in for so long, and I think a group like this could get good gigs at nicer clubs where audiences are there to listen. For what it's worth, of late I've been listening to a lot of Bill Frisell's new trio (I love the Scott La Faro school of bass and Thomas Morgan is keeping that alive nicely), David Grisman, Yo Yo Ma/ Edger Meyer/ Chris Thile Bach Trios, Paul Desmond & Gerry Mulligan Quartet, Mandolin Orange, and Andrew Bird's "Echolocations" recordings of late.
