Beware: Man lying about age of Morkie puppies in West Valley

Description

I purchased a Morkie puppy on April 28th from a Hispanic man in the Park at Westgate apartment complex in Glendale. His ad stated the puppies were 8 weeks old. He told me they were eating solid foods. All the puppies appeared healthy with a shiny coat, clear eyes, and were active. He gave me a record to show she had gotten her first shots. She was small but looked similar to how my healthy maltipoo dogs were when they were puppies, so I didn’t think anything of that. I picked a beautiful, happy little female and paid $600. I got her as a surprise for my older daughter, who was thinking of getting a puppy after her 2 dogs had passed of old age about 7mo ago. And when I gave her this puppy, she was overjoyed and in love immediately. She took the dog to the vet for a first checkup a couple days later. The puppy wasn’t showing any interest in eating solids of any type, so we had gotten her puppy formula which she ate right up. The vet said she was not 8 weeks, but was only about 4 weeks based on her teeth. Said to keep feeding her the formula and that we could start offering puppy food around 6 weeks. Over the next couple weeks, despite eating well, she started losing weight. My daughter took her back to the vet a few times. She was diagnosed with coccidia parasite and started on treatment. It was then that I got back on Craigslist and saw a couple other posts with similar stories in the similar local area. She started to lose a lot of weight and get really weak despite treatment. I took her to the pet ER, where they treated her aggressively with IV fluids, glucose, antibiotics over night. The vet said that, despite treatment, she probably was overwhelmed by this parasite because she was sold so young and didn’t have her mom’s nutrition and antibodies for longer like she should to develop a healthier immune system. For financial reasons, we had to continue treatment at home after spending all night being treated in the pet ER. She was weak but seemed to be doing better. But despite all treatment and all our love, she passed away last night. She suffered and died unnecessarily. My girls and I are heartbroken. All because some jerk decided to sell puppies too early just to make a buck on the lives of innocent puppies. The man’s phone number at the time was 602-815- two three three nine. I would guess it was a burner phone and that he will just change the number for the next litter he goes to sell. And he will likely meet people in other locations to stay in business. But beware of a Hispanic man selling Morkie (or similar) puppies in the West Valley. He sells them too young and lies about their age and where they are at developmentally. And it probably won’t end well despite your best efforts.
