Description

Happy Window Cleaning offers major medical, dental, and vision coverage. We researched the 12 leading franchises when we were still in the planning stages of our own franchise and found that employee advancement is a problem in our industry. So we built open-book management, profit-sharing business model. This means that employees have access to books, graphs, and posted documents showing all of our numbers, what we make, and what we spend money on. This transparency ensures that our people have a voice in the direction of our company. Another problem we found is the widening income gap between owners and workers. It was not uncommon for executives to earn 70 times or more than their workers. At Happy Window, Cleaning owners pay themselves just $2.00 more per hour than their highest-paid employee and everyone has an equal percentage of our profit sharing. So you see we are all working and are rewarded together, each having his or her own part on the team. We all have financial needs, and the culture here is Christian, which we believe, in its truest form involves "servant leadership". There is no "us against them", between workers and management, it's always about what is best for the whole team. And the whole team has the opportunity to earn more and more as our company invests profits and begins to franchise all around Michigan and the entire country. In six years we have grown from two vans to seven service vehicles. And we are just getting started. We have programs to promote employees both within the company and if desired you can become our partner, and be awarded your own Happy Window Cleaning territory as a "franchisee". The fee for outsiders is waived for employees. Employees become eligible after three years of good feedback from customers and completing the required training. This is the opportunity to get aboard a company that is projected to have a waiting list for hiring within a few years. The work itself involves labor, but it is not the hardest labor, by far, of the trades. anyone who has done roofing, ironworking, concrete work, or framing will attest to that. Job security. In 2008 when the housing market collapsed and the whole country found itself in a deep recession, window cleaners still had their jobs! Those who focus on new construction found themselves unable to pay mortgages, but the people we work for are generally wealthy and still need help with their windows cleaned to enjoy their space and they can afford us no matter what is happening in the economy. Happy Window Cleaning has had exceptional growth since day one, including through the pandemic. What is more, we do window cleaning year-round. When it is cold we use additives and the appropriate gear to get the job done. We work in beautiful settings and all weather conditions expect high winds cleaning homes and businesses. What we need from our employees. Honesty. Great attendance, (you must plan vacations and time off according to our peak harvesting times and be here for your team when we need you. We work more hours during some times of the year than others. Sometimes from 8:30 a.m. until early evening six days a week. We never work on Sunday. You must be a licensed driver and pay close attention to detail in your workmanship. We train you. You must be able to carry and climb ladders safely. It is not rocket science but you must take the work seriously. We have both extension ladders which are heavy and special light weight ladders for lower windows. We clean up to three stories with ladders. The high windows are typically few in the rear of a home. Above that height, we use water-fed poles and other methods. We do not presently clean high-rise buildings. Our employees work as a team with the office administrator and each crew leader picks up and reads daily worksheets and follows written and oral instructions to the T. You must be on time for appointments and call our customer ahead if occasionally running late. We provide equipment and need our people to keep the vans clean and orderly. Our employees wear uniforms and collect payment at the end of the job. Happy Window Cleaning works all around West Michigan but mostly in the Greater Grand Rapids area. Our Employees take pride in delivering great workmanship and ask for referrals, at the end of the job when the customer is most grateful for their help. they also hand out brochures about other services we provide along with invoices. It really comes down to caring about each other.
