Vendor fair, drum circle, African dance class, music trivia, art, living history museum, soul food exhibit, Freedom Quilt and play. Slover Library and TRS Productions proudly present the 2022 Juneteenth Freedom Festival. This free family event features a vendor fair, drum circles, African dance classes, music trivia, art, a living history museum, an "At the Table" soul food exhibit, and an African “American Heritage in Stitching Freedom Quilt” presentation. Festivities conclude with a theatrical performance, "Juneteenth the Production," where visitors journey back in time with two grandparents to learn the historical significance of Freedom Day (Juneteenth). (All Ages) 1-3:30 PM: FESTIVAL STATIONS - FORUM Explore a variety of interactive exhibits aimed to educate and inspire. Exhibits repeat every 30 minutes to give guests an opportunity to visit each station. Stations Include: MUSIC TRIVIA - Challenge your music knowledge DRUM CIRCLE - Play with drums and percussion instruments AFRICAN DANCE CLASS - Learn dance styles steeped in history LIVING MUSEUM - Get an experiential interpretation of history “AT THE TABLE” - Learn the symbolic meaning of Soul Food ART EXHIBIT - View the work of local artists and students FREEDOM QUILT - Discover the secrets behind the patterns 1-5:30 PM: VENDOR FAIR - FORUM In celebration of black culture and entrepreneurship, we invite you to tour and shop a variety of local black-owned businesses. 4-5:30 PM: “JUNETEENTH THE PRODUCTION” - ROOM 650 Take a journey back in time with two grandparents as they tell stories to their grandchildren about current events and past history while exploring a box of Grandfather’s goodies. You will be enlightened and inspired by TRS Productions’ creative use of the arts to educate and empower the audience! (All Ages)
