This session will provide introduction to the field of prevention, how it relates to Ohio, and how it began with substance use prevention and has expanded to encompass other areas, such as suicide and gambling.

Attendees will understand the evolution of prevention as well as the theoretical models of prevention and how it relates to current community efforts.

1. Explain the history and evolution of the prevention field
2. Describe prevention in Ohio
3. Demonstrate understanding of universal, selective, and indicated populations
