Description

Indy organizations are teaming up to organize a Rain Barrel Build Workshop at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (Normandy Barn). Join Reconnecting to Our Waterways (ROW), Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District (MCSWCD), and Kheprw Institute (KI) for an exciting workshop for Indy residents. Learn about water conservation and sustainable stormwater management with green infrastructure at your home. Space is limited to 25 Marion County residents for each workshop. Registration is required and limited to 2 people per household. Thursday, June 23 - Rain Garden Workshop - 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. - Normandy Barn at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (1202 E 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46205) Indy residents living along our waterways will be able to learn the benefits of and how to build your own rain garden in your yard to help manage stormwater and clean up the water going into our waterways and aquifers. Working with experts from MCSWCD, up to 25 Marion County residents will receive step-by-step instructions and materials on building a 55-gallon rain barrel to take home after the event. NOTE: Attendees must transport their rain barrel immediately following the event. It is 55-gallons and should fit in the backseat of most 4-door vehicles. Workshops to improve our waterways are made possible through a generous grant from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture's Clean Water Indiana grant program.
