Learn how to make your own rain barrel to conserve rainwater
Learn how to make your own rain barrel to conserve rainwater at your home. Rain barrels can save hundreds to thousands of gallons of water each year to be used for watering gardens, washing cars, and other projects. They aid in water conservation and help prevent erosion from stormwater runoff. Workshop participants will learn the importance of water conservation, the basics of rainwater harvesting, and will get the chance to construct their own rain barrel to take home.
Following the workshop, all are welcome to continue enjoying their afternoon in the park with food, drinks, games, and other activities.
Cost covers a portion of the cost of rain barrel materials.
About 684 Mountain Drive: Livable Buckhead is working to turn the plot of land located at 684 Mountain Drive into a community park. Over the past few years, we’ve planted trees there, added picnic benches painted with colorful murals, and have even introduced bee hives with a supporting pollinator garden. The bee habitat was created in partnership with Buckhead Rotary and Doc’s Healing Hives, a nonprofit that introduces veterans to beekeeping in an effort to help them heal through the experience of managing their own hives.
