Press release from the Town of Norton: May 11, 2022 MassDOT is excited to announce the creation of the Seasonal Highway Labor Program for 16 and 17-year-olds, this is an addition to our traditional summer program that offers seasonal jobs for individuals 18 and older, and any help you could provide in sharing this with your constituents would be greatly appreciated. To that end, attached to this email are two postings, one for individuals aged 18 and older, and the other for individuals aged 16 and 17, that you should feel free to share. This new program will run from June 6, 2022, through August 26, 2022. The standard workweek is full-time Monday through Friday and the start times for shifts will vary depending upon placement. Positions are available at MassDOT Districts and Depots throughout the state of Massachusetts. Those selected will perform outside maintenance functions that include sweeping, painting, litter pick up and performing general highway beautification. Locations: District 1 – Berkshire County/Western MA District 2 – Pioneer Valley/Western MA District 3 – Worcester County/Central, MA District 4 – Northeastern MA District 5 – Southeastern/Cape & Islands District 6 – Metro Boston Minimum Entrance Requirements All job applications must be submitted online through MassCareers to be considered. Applicants must be: • 16 years or older. If you are under 18 years of age, you must obtain a work permit before starting. Executive Order #595: As a condition of employment, successful applicants will be required to have received COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption as of their start date. Details relating to demonstrating compliance with this requirement will be provided to applicants selected for employment.
