Press release from the City of Portland: May 12, 2022 The last day to in-person absentee vote is Thursday, June 9, unless you have a qualifying special circumstance and fill out the required form. Examples of special circumstances include an unexpected work trip, unexpected illness, or Island voter. The Clerk's Office will be open until 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 9 only for voter registration and in-person absentee voting. About Absentee Ballots Absentee ballots can be requested online, by mail, or by calling 207-874-8677. You can check the status of your absentee ballot request by using the Secretary of State's new tracking system. You can also use this tool to track your ballot once you have returned it. Absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 PM on Election Day. Absentee ballots must be returned via mail or the external ballot box outside of City Hall and not to your normal polling place. online new tracking system Election Day Election Day is Tuesday, June 14, 2022, and all polling places will be open on that day from 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM. Election Results The City will once again host an opportunity to watch election results come on election night via Google Meet. The Ranked Choice Voting tabulation will take place on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the State of Maine Room at City Hall.
