Press release from Bedford Public Library: May 12, 2022 Join us in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month by checking out one of these great reads. Try a moving memoir, a fascinating history, or a stirring novel. These books are not a comprehensive representation of the Asian American experience, but instead a sample of the diverse stories being told by AAPI authors. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month was first established by Congress in 1978 as Pacific/Asian American Heritage Week. In 1990, the celebration was expanded to the entire month of May.
