Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today: Police continue to search for clues in the death of 13-year-old Milana Li, which was officially ruled a homicide on Wednesday, May 11. Community members call the situation "devestating" and "crazy." Authorities are following up on multiple leads in the case, and they continue to assure neighbors that there doesn't appear to be any threat to the public. (KGW.com)Among those hardest hit by Milana Li's death are her classmates at Conestoga Middle School. Beaverton School District social worker Amy Baker talks about what measures the district is taking to help the kids affected by the loss, including providing a safe space for them to work through their feelings and working to restore important routines. (KOIN.com) A Washington County dam is destined for oblivion this summer, reports Chris McGinniss. The pool created by the 100-year-old Balm Grove Dam on Gales Creek offers locals a recreation spot, but it also blocks a portion of a main fish passage barrier in the Tualatin Basin. Once e dam is removed, the area will offer important habitat for spawning fish. (KGW.com) The area's first Ethiopian Cultural Festival is coming soon, reports Dillon Mullan. The Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center will host the event on Sunday, June 5. It's set to feature a traditional coffee ceremony, Ethiopian food, music and more. The Ethiopian community in the United States has more than doubled over the past ten years, according to recent census data.
