WOODBURY, MN — A Woodbury woman who admitted last year to committing tax fraud was recently sentenced to serve 15 months in prison and pay back more than $1 million, according to federal prosecutors. Shoua Yang, 45, pleaded guilty in November to two counts of filing a false federal income tax return. Yang owned and operated Atwork Staffing in St. Paul from 2014-2018 and was responsible for paying all payroll taxes for the company's employees. She also had the company pay some of its employees' wages in cash to keep it off payroll records, federal prosecutors said. Yang filed false corporate income tax returns for Atwork Staffing that underreported the company's total income from clients and its true payroll, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
