Description

Press release from the Cass County Government: May 12, 2022 Senior State's Attorneys Renata Selzer and Tracy Peters were individually recognized this week for their cooperative work with the U.S. Attorney's Office during cases over the last several years. Interim U.S. Attorney Nick Chase presented Ms. Selzer and Ms. Peters their Certificates of Appreciation on Tuesday afternoon during a small gathering in the State's Attorney's Office. Ms. Selzer assisted the U.S. Attorney's Office with the prosecution of a local gang in Fargo and was able to get key cooperation from individuals that led to the sentencing of the gang's leader to 25 years in prison. This case also led to several other individuals being sentenced for their involvement in criminal activity in the region. Ms. Peters also played a key role in prosecuting a large-scale conspiracy involving a number of individuals posing as either drug dealers or drug buyers and assaulting and robbing customers or actual dealers in the region. This case led to a number of individuals being convicted and sentenced in both federal and state court and resolved a number of shootings that had occurred in our community. These efforts display how important cooperation between the State's Attorney's Office and the U.S. Attorney's Office is to the community as they both seek a just result where crimes overlap jurisdictions.
