From Greer: "Winning the Arthur Ashe Jr. award means a lot. As a recipient, it lets me know that my hard work in the classroom and on the court doesn't go unnoticed. It's very tough as a student-athlete balancing practices/weights/individuals with now in person classes again and homework/exams. I think looking back the most difficult thing for me this year was having to miss practices for class. I'm a proud student athlete who loves being in the classroom and on the court. Both are rewarding and helping me reach my personal goals which is why I work as hard as I do." Releford, sophomore guard Decatur, Georgia Has a 3.6 grade point average and is majoring in Kinesiology. Participated in the UNCG Athletics Food Drive, Angel Tree Project, and has volunteered at Moss Street Elementary School. Independently worked on an initiative to feed the homeless population back home in Georgia. Has spoken to, worked with youth basketball camps, and spent time working with youth who attend her church, Freedom of Atlanta. This past season played in 21 games and averaged 4.0 points per game and 1.6 rebounds per contest. Scored a career-high 12 points twice in games against Furman on Feb. 7 and Mercer on Feb. 12. Had eight points and collected a career best seven rebounds against Wofford on Feb. 21. From Releford: "For with God, all things are possible. Winning the Arthur Ashe award means a lot to me. It shows that all of the hard work doesn't go unnoticed and that it's paying off. It also allowed me to see what can happen when you have faith in not only yourself but God as well because I wouldn't have made it this far without him. I'm extremely grateful for this award and I'm happy I get to share it with my roommate and teammate Excellenxt!"
