ROSWELL, GA — To stop human trafficking and prostitution in Roswell, city council unanimously voted to amend an ordinance that will regulate massage spas. During a Monday meeting Council approved new requirements on massage parlors and their employees. Massage therapists who are not licensed in Georgia must obtain a permit from the City of Roswell, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Also, massage businesses cannot be within 300 feet of a church or school or more than 300 feet from a state route and hours of operation must be between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sex-related crimes such as "human trafficking, prostitution for hire and masturbation for hire" take place at illegal spas in Roswell, said Police Chief James Conroy, reported the AJC. The ordinance will help put a stop to illegal massage spas that exploit women, Mayor Kurt Wilson said during the meeting, reported the AJC.
