MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Michigan State Police are investigating two separate Thursday shootings on Interstate 696 in Macomb County. State troopers said a man was shot in the arm in Warren while driving eastbound on the freeway near Dequindre Avenue on Thursday just after 5 p.m. After he was shot, the man then drove himself to the hospital and has yet to cooperate with troopers. However, state troopers closed down the freeway to investigate the shooting and found several FN 5.7 shell casings in the area where the man said he was shot at, officials said. Troopers did not identify a shooter as they were continuing to investigate the incident. Another shooting happened on eastbound Interstate 696 later Thursday night, at 10:50 p.m. when a driver was shot at near Couzens Avenue on the Warren and Hazel Park Border. State troopers said the two drivers got into an altercation during a traffic jam on the freeway when a man in an older model minivan pulled out a gun and fired one or two shots at the other driver, breaking the vehicle's window. The driver was not struck in the shooting, and drove home and called police to report the shooting, officials said. Troopers said they're looking for a white man, 30 to 40 years old, with black hair and a thick mustache. Troopers encouraged anyone who witnessed this incident to call 248.584-5740 or 800.SPEAK-UP.
