NEW YORK, NY — A train derailment at the 14th Street station in Manhattan injured three people and affected several New York City Subway lines Sunday morning. The train was arriving at the 14th Street station at 8th Avenue in West Village at 8:17 a.m. when it struck some debris, the New York Daily News reports citing New York Police Department sources. One of the subway cars derailed, with one of the wheels falling off. Three of the 30 passengers on board suffered minor injuries, WNBC-TV reporter Myles Miller initially reported, citing New York Fire Department officials. All passengers and employees were safely evacuated from the trains, New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokeswoman Abbey Collins said and reported no injuries. A handful of photos of the wrecked train were shared on Twitter Sunday morning, including these two from David Lavine. The derailment was caused by a "saboteur" who clamped wooden planks onto the roadbed, according to the Daily News report. The man responsible for the derailment was seen laughing at his accomplishment moments after the derailment and Good Samaritans restrained him until police arrived to take him into custody, the report said. Subway service on the A,C, D, E and F trains were affected, the New York City Subway said in a service alert.
