ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — A man who grew up in Rockville Centre has become a businessman within the health care industry.
Matt Giovanniello is the CEO and co-founder of Frenalytics, a personalized web-based learning application that helps those suffering from stroke, dementia, autism and other disorders.
The idea was launched while he was in the seventh grade.
"The original version started after my grandmother had a really severe stroke during open-heart surgery," Giovanniello, a guest on Friday's "Patch AM," said.
His grandmother would push away flashcards given to stimulate memory.
"I knew something had to be done that was a little bit more atypical than the traditional therapy that was given to her at the time," he said.
Giovanniello said his app, which received a patent, has gone through "many years of research to establish the efficacy of our software tool," he said.
