Here are the top stories in Riverhead today: A dedication will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 5 p.m. for a beloved kindergarten teacher, Keri Lynn Stromski, who made headlines around the world in March 2021 when one of her virtually taught students made a a "hug machine" so that his favorite teacher could hug again. The new Keri Lynn Stromski Memorial Playground at Iron Pier Beach will honor the Aquebogue Elementary School kindergarten teacher who died in 2021 after a fierce battle with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer at the age of 48.
