Keys / Piano / Synth wanted

Seattle WA

Description

I'm a Seattle-based singer and guitarist with a few recordings released already, but I'm putting together a full band to play out live. I've got a drummer, lead guitarist, and bassist lined up, but we still need keys. We're queer or queer friendly, fun, and all above average players and songwriters. Super into taking the music and the craft seriously, but not super into taking ourselves seriously. Ideally I'd like to find someone who can play both straightforward piano / organ, but also is skilled with synthesizer technology. Bonus points for folx who can sing while they play, Extra Mega Bonus points for folx who can sing well in higher registers. Major points of comparison for the kind of player we're looking for would be Steve Nieve (EC and the Attractions), Ron Mael (Sparks), and Amanda Palmer. Major songwriting influences include Elvis Costello, Pixies, David Bowie, Aimee Mann, Kate Bush, The Replacements, Kyle Craft, The Jam, Hedwig & The Angry Inch, Wire, Mekons, Queen. [Please actually be into at least some of that stuff.] Looking for people who are kind, enthusiastic, expansive, professional and, ideally, at least somewhat experienced playing in bands. Our plan would be to practice once a week (at least until we get our starting set nailed down) and gig locally no more than once a month, with some out of town gigs soon as well.
