WEST ISLIP, NY - Two Long Island moms recently opened a motherhood wellness space in West Islip. In November, Laura Siddons and Jacqueline Aiello officially opened The Nesting Place on 210 Union Boulevard. Siddons describes the business as a "supportive resource for moms," offering workshops, support groups and programs to pregnant, new moms, and veteran moms. "Our services are focused on supporting moms emotional wellness and offering support on her journey," the Islip resident told Patch. Siddons, who is a certified birth doula, said she wanted to create a safe space for moms to "share the joys and challenges of motherhood." The two women wanted to open the business after noticing a lack of resources for new mothers on Long Island. "I found that resources for new moms are often far apart and scarce, and when you are sleepdeprived and struggling, no one is going to make the effort to connect all the pieces themselves," Aiello, who also works as an attorney, said. The Nesting Place is the first dedicated space on Long Island for mothers to seek support, according to the two women. The business will operate out of Aloha Yoga and Healing to offer yoga classes including prenatal and mommy and me, as well as interactive prenatal and baby preparation classes, free support groups, mom-centered workout classes, educational workshops, and various other forums where Long Island moms can learn and share tips and tricks with other moms. In addition, The Nesting Place will host workshops for moms and parents featuring holistic health practitioners and experts such as nutritional counselors, mental health practitioners who specialize in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, wellness coaches, sleep therapists and others who specialize in various topics around pregnancy, postpartum, parenting and wellness for families.
