Join Casey Trees and Friends of the National Arboretum for a tree appreciation and full moon walk at the US National Arboretum. Join Casey Trees in partnership with the Friends of the National Arboretum for a moderately paced tree appreciation and identification walk at the US National Arboretum. We will cover about 3 miles in two hours, during which we will share the stories trees on the grounds of the arboretum and the rich history of the space, while waiting for the moon to rise. What to expect An easy to moderately paced 3 mile walk with varied terrain (grass, pavement, wood chips) and some incline. We try not to use flashlights, but will have them if the terrain is uneven. Requirements Register: Please register in advance as space is limited. If your plans change prior to the event, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of attendees. Waiver: All attendees must pre-register and sign a completed participant waiver form BEFORE participating in the Tree Walk. Youth Attendees: Unfortunately, we are not accepting attendees under the age of 18 for this event. Clothes and shoes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We will only cancel if it is a thunder/lighting storm, but light rain is pleasant to walk in. We recommend long pants. Please wear closed toed shoes that you are comfortable walking in. Arrival: Please arrive on time. Check-in begins 15 mins prior to start (6:15 PM) and gate opens at 6 PM. Event starts at 6:30 PM and gate closes at 6:35 PM. *No one will be permitted in after this time. Water: Please bring a full reusable water bottle! No water refilling stations will be available. Food: No food will be provided on site, please pack in any food you would like to eat during the event. Animals: No animals are allowed into the event, except for service animals. COVID-19 Policy: Casey Trees is now requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend our events. One of the following options will demonstrate proof of vaccination: - A physical Center for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccination Card - A digital copy/photo of a CDC Vaccination Card - A COVID-19 Verification App such as VaxYes or CLEAR Please bring a photo ID and one of the above listed options to provide proof of vaccination. You may not be asked to show proof of vaccination during our outdoor event, however you may need to show proof of vaccination to use any indoor facilities. Getting There *Attendees MUST enter through the R ST. Gate Public Transportation: The closest Metrorail subway stop is Stadium Armory Station on the Blue and Orange lines. Transfer to Metrobus B-2; disembark the bus on Bladensburg Road and walk 2 blocks to R Street. Make a right on R Street and continue 2 blocks to the Arboretum gates. Parking: Parking is available on site. Bike Parking: Bike parking is available on site.
